Philip Krejcarek

The emphasis of my work over the past seven years has been in the role of color in performance photography. What I have attempted to do was to create situations where a moment in a fictitious theatrical production is documented as a tableaux. Color has been utilized for dramatic effect as well as for formal concerns of composition.

The choice of subject matter has been to utilize objects which could be animated as if they were actors on a stage. The scenarios are personal childhood memories and adult fantasies created for the performance.

My goal with this work is to create a mystery around which only one frame is given as a clue.

I feel that my work is social/political in its nature. I deal with man/woman relationship issues, organized religion, and the implications of television in our society.
